They walked of real casual
These are just my thoughts on this attack and the outcome:
1 – Given the nature of the attack (almost like a wrestling match with at least 3 attackers) he could have easily lost his grip on the knife and dropped it, leaving himself unarmed or worse – one of his attackers could have gotten the knife. This is why I have a retention lanyard on any knife I carry. I wrap it around my wrist to secure the weapon in my hand if I am forced to draw it in self defense. Yes, it will slow down the transition from reverse to forward grip a bit, but that is a small price to pay for solid weapon retention IMHO.
2 – When an attack from multiple assailants kicks off, IMMEDIATELY focus on the attacker closest to you and lay him open with as long and deep of a slash as you can put on him. He will break off the attack, probably start screaming in pain and will be spilling blood everywhere. This will serve as a wake up call to the other attackers – "Jeez, I don't want to end up like him" and they will likely break off the assault. Seeing one of your co-attackers in the process of bleeding to death would carry a lot of intimidation power.
Again, JMHO. The main thing is the man ended up safe as did his wife. God only knows what these POS thugs would have done if they had gotten to her.
Im from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and i always carry my Karambit.
South Africa is rife with violent crime against Whites. Leave it and stay away.
Looks like a kinda normal everyday interaction.
I watched the video several times, I cannot get a clear picture of the man's grip on his knife. My concern when using an 'ice pick' grip is that his thumb wasn't 'capping' the knife. Had his strike on the one assailant actually penetrated and hit bone, then; his hand would have slide down the blade. When he switched grips, he did it without pinning it against his thigh and risked dropping it. His footwork was poor. He was a guy in a desperate situation doing the best he could. But, he had not done much training that was apparent. If you carry a knife the maxim must be followed, knives are meant to be felt, not seen. Don't deploy the blade until too soon. Train to draw from concealment on your body. Train with both hands. Train to strike specific points on the body. Train to strike multiple times and to thrust and do deep penetration. Mentally be prepared to cut and be cut. If you must fight, then; fight to win.
Since you had asked, I carry fixed blade karambits, as in two. People try to defend with their two hands trying to hold your one arm. Most people can block one weapon, but not two.
In South Africa, I'd carry an RPG!
Ahh, the circle of life. ItS amAziNg hOw far hUmaNity hAs coMe tO Be! Isent it 😂
Dude is very comfortable using that knife, most would fumble, knife would fall out their hands. Ex army maybe, considering his age from what can be seen.
Carrying a gun legally in South Africa is a little harder than here in the states. That’s why he was armed with a knife.
Not everyone can carry guns legally
Note that he lost his balance and actually dropped the knife in a transition. We all need situational training with instruction in good environment. USA is turning into this in blue urban centers due to Soros purchased prosecutors. Awful!
Microtech Annax, tanto-fully serrated
Little late to the party here but I live in California and carrying a gun is something most can't do (legally). I carry a Cold Steel Voyager Tanto XL, a 5.5 inch folding knife in a tanto style. The size is intimidating so ideally I can avoid a fight with fear. The blade is also very strong. I'm a smaller guy so having any tool at all gives me time and options. It may not be the best thing ever but it's better than being empty handed
Democrats are working overtime to turn America into this example.
I carry a self defense katana.
A US marine K-bar concealed in the boots always get's the job done
Amazing turn of from major disadvantage to superiority. He was determined and lucky.
My go to knife is a small fixes blade, usually an esee.
EDC knife varies on level of threat.
Normal everyday I use folding knife, higher level is a belt mounted fixed buck knife, while I’m fishing 🎣 or in a dangerous area I carry a very large fixed knife of course I carry my POM and ccw pistols, all legal.
I had a few lessons on knife fighting years ago. Was told to use knife in your weak hand, so you can punch/grab with your dominate hand, and use your forearm (along the bone) to defend against the opponent's knife. And long hold the knife and use in a slashing technique rather than a stabbing technique.
Very shameful situation the big cities of South Africa, surprised the boogies didn’t pull a weapon of their own on the respectable gentleman. We’re all happy to see the intelligent human fend off those monsters with their low IQ’s.
Surrounded by baboons. Must be a real gut-wrenching experience.
WTF was that old man doing in that neighborhood? That's gun territory.
I carry a Morakniv garberg cause thanks to restrictions I can't have a gun sadly in Mexico most criminals have big guns..
I agree on a gun being better, but legality of doing so is a rare thing, particularly outside of the US. I recently moved to a college town, and many times cannot carry anything more than a blade/flashlight/pepper spray. Work with what you can.
Is a four-way blade 2 sharp blade on a left two sharp pain in the right and a
