Attempting to defend yourself with a slip joint pocket knife can be very dangerous. Knives are better murder weapons than self defense tools, as Leon says, but I wanted to pass along THAT warning from my personal experience. Make sure your folding knife locks securely or get a fixed blade (if it can be carried discreetly). A small can of pepper spray on a lanyard tucked into a water bottle pocket on my backpack is a system I swear by. In your hand in fractions of a second if you practice your draw. Stay safe friends.
In the US, legality varies from cop to cop
Our legality doesnt just vary from state to state, its also county to county. So switchblades are legal in my state and county, so I have 1 and a couple balisongs (some places consider balisongs to be switchblades legally, cause its stupid). But theyre illegal in the county over. So I dont carry them, unless im staying in town. I think its a felony if I were to have them in the wrong county, but dont quote me on that
And remember the first defense you have is situational awareness. Even someone you know and trust can inflict great harm to you under the right circumstance. Take time to know the quickest way out of the places you spend most of your time. Spend as little time alone at night as possible. keep your phone accessible at all times, even if you are just stepping out to check the mail or running into the gas station to pick up a taquito.
I’m just gonna say all these things should be considered in addition to a carry firearm such as a standard semi auto handgun or revolver. Consider also invest in at least 1 or 2 long guns.
I’m sorry but as long as the 2nd amendment exists any of the states that have laws that are restricting these items are likely illegal and could easily be challenged in court. Texas spat in the 2nd amendment’s face for god knows how long because they illegally restricted the use of swords until they were (rightfully) sued a few years ago and lost. That precedent will pass on
I never thought about using the thumb for pepper spray!
I may start using that with bug spray now!
Ill stick with a 9mm.
If you live somewhere that it's feasible, learn to use a firearm, then get one and carry it (again, if feasible). Training is important. A gun is more dangerous than no gun if you don't know what you're doing, and is a worry-stone at best if you aren't well trained and practiced. Find local comrades or friendly liberals near you for an intro. Most will be happy to teach you and take you to the range, and let you try out some firearms.
I thought a switchblade was illegal federally, lol. The more ya know

From all the self-defense stuff ive seen and read, tazers and stun guns are not as effective as pepper spray.
I really respect what you're doing with this vid and as a self defense *enthusiast (for lack of a better term), I have a little feedback:
Tasers are substantially different from stun guns. A Taser is meant to elicit a neuro-physical response where the attacker is essentially paralyzed for the duration of the charge (I believe 30-60 seconds). To do this the Taser projects 2 barbs and for the device to work, one barb must hit the upper body and the other barb must hit the lower body. Sometimes clothes can prevent contact or one of the barbs could just miss and practically speaking you only get one shot so it's a high risk/high reward type of weapon that isn't always the best choice.
Meanwhile, a stun gun is simple pain compliance. The goal is to cause so much pain that the attacker will quit his/her pursuit. You can also do this with a Taser like you mentioned. Stun guns are even less ideal because in the heat of the moment a lot of attackers will simply endure the pain and all one can do is impotently continue to stun or hopefully find a backup weapon.
Also on the topic of knives, I would just like to mention that you're definitely correct, a knife should prob be more so a last resort weapon but there are good self defense knives that are arguably much better than a switchblade or balasong and not restricted in the same way. A couple companies worth checking out are Spyderco and Cold Steel. The Spyderco Matriarch 2 in particular is based on a design that they made for undercover cops for some 3 letter agency.
Sorry for the long write up lol.
Carrying a knife is illegal in the UK.
IIRC in Australia, anything you hold in your hand is considered a weapon and illegal, even a tissue.
So fight bare handed if at all.
One key point overlooked here is training and practice. Get good with whatever self defense implement you plan to use if you hope to make it effective.
The intro song gets stuck in my head out of nowhere once every couple of months and it makes me have to come here to catch up on all the renegade cut vids. Love it
I'd like to recommend a knife. Basically if you want a knife but don't want to look like a "problem", the Spyderco Dragonfly is a great choice. It's very small and unassuming. It's light, easy to carry in your pocket. Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and become almost invisible when closed. Blade length is small enough that it shouldn't be an issue anywhere, unless you're straight up banned from carrying knives period.
It's comfortable. I often sleep wearing it because I just forget to take it off, and I don't even feel it. Opens quickly and easily with one hand. As far as doing every day tasks, it's may favorite knife. Easy to sharpen, as well.

Gun
Screwdrivers work too, in a pinch. And they're legal worldwide.😉
I'm all for European gun control laws and efforts to reduce knife crimes, too. But the way pepper spray is considered an illegal weapon punishable with serious prison time in many countries here just seems like telling (sexual) assault victims they just need to be more resilient and learn how to emotionally cope better with said assault while it's happening.
Just found your channel , good work comrade
There's also these new whip/baton type weapons like the Fast Strike & the Stinger or things like Monkey Fist. They are way more legal than a knife or sometimes even a taser. & they can hurt somebody but not kill them so you are in less legal jeopardy. I carry a small pepper spray & am thinking of adding the Fast Strike because it does look like it will hurt someone if they get close to you but it won't whip back around & hurt you yourself, but it's also VERY concealable & light weight so you can take it everywhere.
somehow the pistol or ar15 wouldnt be a thing? 9mm and 556 end thing quite fast. Knife doesnt it prolongs death., tasing has been proven in most cases to sometimes work. lol your point?
Keep in mind there are times that the attacker might be under the influence or a tiny number of people are almost unaffected by pepper spray or stun gun. Go for actual brands of OC spray. I carry 2oz Fox Labs One Point Four with UV dye stream. Check your state laws on how many oz you can carry in Florida pepper spray cannot exceed 2 fluid oz.
I carry a walking stick. It is solid ebony and thick and heavy. It is always in my hand. It has never happened but if somebody is close enough I will have it drawn before a pistol can be drawn because it is always in my hand and I can hit them in the hand or head or anywhere. It also is visible and easily seen and makes me look like I am more trouble than it is worth.
Even pepper spray is illegal here in Australia and carrying knives is also illegal in many situations. I carry an umbrella and 40% deet mosquito spray instead. Both of which are useful in everyday life, are not suspicious and can be used to put distance between you and an attacker.
"Simple Guide to Self-Defense Weapons"
Opening frame is a dude throwing a molotov.
Yes I approve.
If you put chillis on a stove with some oil, it will create a noxious gas that can cause internal damage. Fyi. 👀
Really? This is where we're at now? 🙄
Firearms?
😮
In the case of pepper spray, I’d suggest the gel form. Aerosol is good for puffing the air full of irritating, but one soft breeze and you join the pain party. Gel shoots in a long straight stream and is hard to immediately remove, ensuring the target is hindered longer allowing you to escape. Some have UV and bright color dyes to make it easier to identify the attacker for arrest and some even have bright LED lights which can both be a warning and a deterrent as a bright light in a dark space can be just as useful without actually causing harm.
Also, get a super bright combat flashlight. It’s probably the best defense weapon you can own.
Few things that aren't mentioned:
1. Tasers may or may not work depends sometimes on the amount of clothes the perpetrator wears.
2. If you do have a knife never say its for self defense when questioned by police because that is a bulshit excuse perpetrators use hence they outlawed that ages ago as an excuse. Say its a multi tool knife, box opener, for peeling apples whatever else.
Honorable mention should go to the unsung heroes of blunt force weapons:
Socks, purses and other things with small change, either in rolls or loose, can fuck people up sufficiently to allow you to get away.
500 grams hitting you in the groin or face are quite painful and as a bonus the ingredients can be carried without even being identifiably as a weapon.
Lol
Crow bar? Baseball bat?
❤ this. Three things:
1) keep your tools on your body, not in purses or such.
2) the 2A, and legal defense insurance, are your friends. Fun fact – stun guns are protected by the 2A.
3) Ida Wells, Fannie Lou Hamer, Robert F Williams, WEB DuBois, Frederick Douglass were all armed to the teeth and not afraid to talk about it. When's your 2A video coming out?
Luv u Leon
My advice to every leftist I meet is to arm themselves as heavily as they can afford. A not insignificant portion of gun owners in the US are right wing extremists who openly talked about civil war when their guy didn’t manage to steal an election. There are fringe groups that talk about “the day of the rope”, also heavily armed.
Far too many of those on the left let their ideological problem with guns get in the way of reality. Hopefully I never shoot at anything but targets, but I’d much rather have 4 too many guns than to not have one when I needed it.
For good luck I want to emphasize: hopefully none of us ever has to use any self defense weapon, period.
I've been carrying a gun since I was old enough to get my permit and my heart is warmed to see more and more leftists arming themselves.
The absolute state of this country, that a political YouTuber makes a video puts out a video like this and it actually fits.
In France, cops are allowed to take away from you any object that could be used as a weapon… So, any object basically. If they don't like your face (or you're near a protest…), they can confiscate your umbrella. If your country is like mine, the best is to learn how to use the only weapons you're carrying at all times: your hands, feet, elbows, knees… They are the only thing that can't legally be seized by now. MMA, wrestling, muay thai, boxing, kickboxing… Any "combat sport" (even practiced as a leisure) will get you way better at protecting yourself (and your loved ones), if anything by getting you in good physical shape.
The contact stun guns don't work very well. If your opponent has a high pain tolerance they'll just ignore it
Get strapped me comrades
Pocket sand, Pepper spray and a well kept gat just in case.
The best method for opening a balisong for self-defense is the quick-draw. It's one-handed, fast, and simple
Don't carry anything you never practice (it's intended use) with. It'll be useless when you're in a panic scenario and can end up giving your attacker a 'free' weapon against you.
study martial arts. martial arts systems often teach weapons that you can use easily. look for martial arts that will teach you some sort of pole fighting (long or short). stick fighting (short sticks) is excellent because it's applicable to whatever you can pick up around you.
learning the principles of martial arts can help you in fights where you need weapons, and they can help you avoid the nastier aspects of self defense (ie turning a fight-ending blow into a glancing blow).
please do not try brazilian jiu jutsu in a street fight. grappling is an excellent combat sport, but has little practical application on the streets. Boxing is practical on the streets, as are certain forms of karate, muay thai and chinese kung fu. (all of these arts teach range of combat, which is important in self defense)
the most important thing about martial arts, even BJJ, is self-knowledge . knowing your balance, what can throw you off your balance, and how your body moves in certain circumstances, not just "knowing" it in a technical sense, but having FELT being thrown in a hip throw, etc. can teach your body to react well in dangerous situations.
things to look for in martial arts training: free sparring (drills are good, but fighting is better), weapons (the less exotic the better), grace and confidence in the students (seeing them can help you find your own), and lastly a calm but confident teacher.
Good luck, Stay Safe.
A very bright small blunt flash light can also be simple and law against them
