There are a range of questions and comments here, and we'd like to address some of them in advance:
1. "The opponent will take his head back, hold you down, etc etc"
– If your opponent always knows exactly which technique you're going to do, then no technique is foolproof. There's a way to counter every technique. You rely on the fact that you have a range of techniques at hand, and the opponent doesn't know what you'll do, and hence can't plan a reaction. No one can claim that you can escape every single time having just one technique in your arsenal.
2. "You can do other things instead – hit the groin, fight, kick, punch, etc etc"
3. "What if person is shorter than you, what if he has a helmet, what if xyz this and that"
-The answer to both questions is the same – As mentioned above, having just one technique is never enough. No technique works in every situation, against every opponent. You need to have a range of moves across locks, throws, pressure points, hits, etc. Anyone who tells you "this technique will solve every situation" is kidding. This is ONE of the techniques that you need to master, among others, to be effective. You never know which kind of technique will come useful when, and the goal is to surprise the opponent with a variety of options.
– Also, not everyone is a martial artist and can do kicks and punches. There have to be techniques that are useful for a wide variety of people.
4. "You cannot reach the point, someone will move their head"
– Why on earth would someone holding you from behind randomly move their head around. No one does that. They only do it if you spend seconds trying to find the pressure point – so the solution here is mastery. You practice it enough so that you find the point instantly, giving no time to someone to react.
