There are many self-defense videos that demonstrate knife defense drills. However, it is important to remember that these drills are meant to train attributes and can be enjoyable. In reality, the scenario against a skilled knife attacker is very different. GM Oliver explains some simple concepts of a skilled attacker and what makes them so dangerous.

The great fear I have, is needing to face a knife attacker. You're with your mom, or child, or wife.
I have watched several videos of Dan Inosanto where many of the same technics are done as well. The disengaging of a grab through breakaway cutting of the hands. In the pass through drills in this video the assistant with no knife keeps his feet still and stays in what they call the blender. He never moves his feet and body to get out of the way of the attack. Everything that I see in these drills is that before someone goes to pass through you move to a 45 degree angle to step out of the blender. I just don't understand why he is not directing the man to move his feet at all. A Jacket thrown over a knife hand as well can be used with an attacking wrist grab. There are places you can not bring a knife or run away. How would he defend if he has no knife and can't run?
That very silent "oh" really emphasizes how serious it is.
It's not like those knife defense techniques were effective in the first place…
mabuhay ka sir keep up the good work po
John wick : u got a knife and i got a FK pencil
The Sad Truth.
Wearing a chain mail will solve everything, can disarming a knife taking from the blade without get injuried
Rule number one I was instructed
nice video. all the comments below make a lot of sense. respect the knife. it is an armed combat. not an unarmed.
Best advice I heard. If you can gtfot then gtfot… if not fight like your life depends on it..
But what if u punch the guy strait away when u bloced the knife? I am just curious would that save u?
Sirs do you have any training centers here in the Philippines in which I can enroll or be trained
Either you pull your gun or run as fast as the bullet can go 😂
you see this man with a knife RUN! lmao
I appreciate the masters long pauses to allow ones imagination to take over. Really gets the point across 😀
Is common sense.
The faster u move, u've already won the battle. With bare hand or not😒. That's how mc works
Simple explanation: RUN and don't try to be action movie hero. Unless you have gun
Yeah but meth heads in Florida don't fight or defend like that.😂 Great video though.👍
