Thanx Jason, but how does one attack effectively with a baseball bat or weapon of opportunity?
I live in South Africa and the suburb im living in is getting more and kore out of hand now. Hope to be moving soon.
It's not worth much without knowing the follow-up… In fact, I'd say that's the hard part…
Unless of course, we're talking about someone who knows a bit better than making wild swings and either keeps the bat in motion before even reaching you or uses short motions and potentially distractions. I know the latter mostly from knife fighting, but I am sure that you can transfer it to this scenario…
I've seen someone getting attacked with a wine bottle. He defended himself with your average push and that resulted in the attacker crashing with his back into the hard edge of some furniture… Talk about first impressions…
I've narrowly missed seeing a similar case and that brings me to the very best defense against any sort of attack: not being there…
I was invited to neighbors. They were nice and generous people, but down on their luck, and have become alcoholics. I was broke at the time and was happy to get some BBQ and meat was too expensive for me back then. I always intended to leave before they get too drunk and that's what I did. They started drinking some more and started playing cards. All fine, but then another acquaintance appeared and started drinking and playing with them. He lost the game (wasn't about money or anything) and he really lost it. He snatched a small axe from the wall (it was a garage converted to a workshop) and tried to split the winner's head! The blade connected, but glanced off and pealed his scalp off from almost the top down to below the ear! The host didn't tolerate any of it and gave the axeman a haymaker that put him out. Just imagine it. One moment everyone is having fun and in the next, it's a frigging horror movie!
Thank you!! So glad I was "fed" your channel!
It's called a gun
Doesn’t the next move after blocking the Bat 🦇, have to be decisive since the attacker has an agenda? For example how about impact to the Adam’s apple 🍏 or the Knee Cap?
Axs, baseball bats, hatchets, non-chucks, etc… are swinging weapons because they have a weight at the end, the effective striking zone is at the weighted end of the weapon, pool sticks, canes, umbrellas, spears, camera stands, ("sticks") etc.. are stabbing and blocking weapons, for poking with one end while pushing from the other end while holding both ends at the same time and stepping forward, or holding on to both ends and blocking or pushing in a sweeping superman flying motion, unique with "sticks" is while holding both ends like pull ups, bridging!, (my favorite), while holding both ends you aim the center of the "stick" at their head and push quickly like a jab, like breaking the stick in half, this move can easily kill, and it doesn't take much strength, swinging a "stick" like a baseball bat or hammer is the least effective way to use a "stick", because there's no weight at the end and will bounce, machete's do this🙄 steel bars being an exception like batons because it's a stick with weight, I use a cane made of mock orange wood, 2" Dia, tested and proven devastating, heavy and won't bend or crack, on a legal note, swinging a stick like a baseball bat legally shows intent to kill in many states and could get you charged! But not stabbing because stabbing can be construed as pushing but not striking like swinging a baseball bat, silly I know, but true
Swing for the knees.
That might work if they use only one arm to swing the bat, but what if they use both?
I have worked door security at clubs for over 20 years. This makes me laugh and angry. This is in my opinion absolutely not what you should do, from my years of experience.
A bat, a crowbar etc. is a short distance weapon. I have always found in close combat it is always better to grab the arm with the weapon while kneeing and/or pushing the attacker backwards, this always (in my experience) has lead to me winning tje fight. Also ,if you do not have fighting skills just try to get inside his/ her striking distance and hug the attacker very tightly, then groin strikes and eye gouges. Stick one of your thumbs as far as you can into the attackers eye socket.
Don't try that type of "judo" Jason is advising unless you are trained.
Thanks for the video.
I usually walk with a cane. If the attacker is still far enough away for me to drive a straight thrust into his solar plexus with my cane, am I more likely to survive by a hard thrust to his solar plexus with the cane or with the technique that you show here? I use a cane that is about 37 inches long. From what I remember, most bats are about 32 to 34 inches long. If he's swinging the bat with the technique you show, the bat is not reaching more than a foot or two in front of him until he completes his swing. If I'm in a good thrust position with my cane, the tip of my cane is 37 inches in front of my hand which is about 22 to 24 inches in front of my shoulder. If I turn my torso into my thrust, I get another few inches of space between my head and the tip of my cane.
I don't expect to hit the solar plexus perfectly, but any thrust that hits ribs or sternum is going to push him backwards. If he's swinging for my face, his bat has a good chance of passing over my thrusting arm. Unless he's falling, I'm still going to try to close and making a swinging strike with my cane while his bat is on the other side of his body. If I can't making a swinging strike with the cane, I might try a head butt.
To me, the alternative would be trying to close on the attacker while holding my cane. If my cane is in my left hand and his bat is in his right hand, I would try to hit his right forearm with my cane and use my right hand as you show. If my cane is in my right hand and his bat is in his right hand, I'm not sure what I'd do.
I like Jason's real world fighting tips. I trained in martial arts for years and it did not teach enough real world like Jason.
In Krav Maga we call this attack the attack, this move is for any type of attack like Jason says. The arm motion of the attacker is the same be it a bat swing or haymaker
I would love to see more of your self defense moves!
Hi Jason! I was once attacked by two men, one ran like a train just behind me and with the same motion he grabbed my neck while the other hold my legs leaving me hanging between the two and got knocked out, left unconscious. Any tips on how to avoid that situations? Love your vids man.
I understand and agree canes being a great option for travel but let’s not get carried away. Some are talking about swords and pipes inside and another says “they can’t ask you what you have a cane for” Try that one and let’s us know how well that works. Any type of public transportation can and will ask and search whatever they like. Be smart, don’t take chances like that, the outcome will not be pretty. And think before you act. The WEB and social media has more lies, deceit, and treachery than not.
I believe you are one of the top producers of this type of content. Appreciate what you do. I was wondering what you believe would be some of the best things to do with the current state of affairs. Where should we relocate to if necessary, what type of a place shelter/house should we find or set up, most important skills and supplies, etc. Climate change along with mental instability becoming a norm is very concerning.
Crazy guy in NYC attacked multiple people with a wooden board recently.
What if they come in low with the bat swing? Like a real baseball or golf swing.
All these paranoid ideas about being attacked. Happens one in a million to someone on planet earth.
This is absolutely correct technique. Thanks Jason.
9 mm )
Thank you, Jason. Another great video!
Thanks!
This is a drill I practiced over and over. The inside hand went to the throat.
Head on a swivel
Hey Mr Jason what do you think about jeet kune do
Wow! In 1985-1986 as an Army infantryman l was taught the EXACT technique by my squad leader…a man with extensive training…currently an 8th degree Suchidon…not sure spelling ….at 70 years of age. He was one of those quiet professionals who wore an “interesting green cap” and he introduced me to some “ guys” with “ beards and jeans” who showed me similar techniques. Your channel and advice is 100% “ ON”. No BS…no fluff…just accurate training for accurate results. Great Job
When they swing back take both feet and jump into their rib cage.
The CIA is scum
You ALWAYS stop a baseball bat with your head…. 🙂
Actually; Video worth watching. Now I know what to do if a CIA guy ever comes at me with a tripod. Damn. "Dude, are you really thinking of hitting me with that tripod or are you just trying to take my picture?" These CIA types are sneaky, for sure!
