12:16 ππ if itβs antifa that straight blast would send them flying into the next state! Oh also that overhead block at 11:23 you have to watch the handle because if you end up hitting yourself with it it can be horrible π
3:24 ππ Exactly itβs called conditioning and if they think thatβs bad wait till they see what Shaolin monks do!
I have a set of tonfa, but Iβd love one of those PR-24 batons, amazing bit of kit thatβs clearly stood the test of time! I also like how you can block both with the side handle, or use it like a straight baton and block that way. The latter is likely better striking against knives, but if you block something long, the side handle acts like a cross guard on a sword and protects the hand a bit.
Hi Matt. Years ago one of my daughters asked me about the PR24. She wanted to learn some techniques, and being she was an adult, i got mine "out of moth balls" and we proceeded with training. She got a little over confident, and holding the yawara handle she began striking the heavy bag, using the swinging technique. She failed to grip the handle tightly, while striking the bag, and she learned the infamous "bounce back" to her ribs. She wasn't injured, just some bruised ribs, but also decided that perhaps this police tool should be left to the LEOs.. Stay safe. Doug.
I have to say that I have been watching your cane videos for a while now. I was trained and certified on that PR 24 as a police officer in the 80s and see the similarities in this weapon and use of a cane. In addition, I took fencing in college. I carry a cane now and carry it everywhere. Between mace, a cane and a firearm I feel prepared. And where I only can carry a cane, watching your videos has given me confidence that the cane can be a lifesaver. Keep up the good work. The cane is now more than just a mobility aid. It is a self-defense tool.
Just built one incorperated into quick disconect base looks just like a cane get crafty π π thanks matt
when i worked in security years ago i used a stright stick but either one will work
thanks Matt
Not legal in California unless you're a police officer or licensed Security Officer.

I purchased the pr24 at a Policeman's supply store..Many, many years ago!!! You just brought back some good memories, and I am with you Sensei , very effective , for self defense , of course .!! Great lesson Sensei , thank you.!!
